Don’t Wait — Tee Up That Golf Trip with Your Buddies

There’s nothing quite like the magic of a golf trip with your friends. The early morning drives, the endless chatter about who’s got the worst slice, and the slow-motion agony of that one putt that refuses to drop… It’s all part of the experience. And let’s be honest, life’s too short to keep putting it off.

Too often, we say, “Next year, we’ll do it,” or “Once the schedule clears up…” But here’s the thing — schedules never clear up, kids grow up, jobs get busier, and suddenly your “someday golf trip” becomes a “remember when we talked about that trip?” Don’t let that happen.

The Oy Vey crew just got back from Myrtle Beach, and it was something else. We hit up Pawley Plantation, Willbrook Plantation, and Caladonia Fish and Golf Club. Each course had its own special features. Not to mention, we were away for golf, so it was pretty awesome. If you ever get the chance, Myrtle Beach is a wild place and a golfing paradise. Pro tip: if you play Caladonia, don't skip the chowder at the turn. It was life-changing. Also, if you need a place to go at night, hit up The PIT (Pawleys Island Tavern), what a place. Tell them the Oy Vey crew sent you.

Why You Need the Golf Trip Now

  1. Memories > Excuses – Those awkward hotel breakfasts, late-night story-swapping, and questionable golf course snacks are the moments you’ll laugh about for years. Oy Vey moment on that questionable chicken salad wrap that sat in the cart under the blistering sun....Ryan.

  2. Bros Before Bogeys – Your buddies are the real reason you play. A solo round can’t compete with the banter, the pranks, and the shared groans when someone in your group or an absolute souther belle stranger yells “Fore!” or "Cut!"

  3. Life Won’t Wait – Injuries, kids, work obligations… there’s always something. So don’t wait for the perfect time — make it happen now.

Tips to Make It Legendary

  • Pick a course that challenges everyone but isn’t cruel.

  • Book accommodations early — even the most modest hotel turns into a memory when it’s full of golf stories.

  • Pack snacks, drinks, patience, and the Aleve in equal measure. Oh, and extra balls and tees, of course.

  • Don’t sweat the score. Really. The trip is about laughs, stories, and maybe a little Oy Vey kvetching along the way.

At the end of the day, it’s the friends you take with you, not the scorecards. So stop hesitating, gather your crew, and tee up. Because some of the best rounds of your life aren’t on the scorecard — they’re in the stories you’ll tell for decades.

Pro tip from Oy Vey Golf: Bring a little humor, a little mischief, and definitely a few outfits and spare undies.
